ChatGPT's New Image Creation Lights Up the Internet
Nintendo fumbled a juicy Switch 2 reveal, Facebook is partying like it’s 2008, and ChatGPT’s image tool is too hot to handle - literally. It’s a week of tech throwbacks, GPU meltdowns, and the kind of chaos we live for.
What’s up, Tech Squad? Nintendo accidentally spilled the pixelated beans, Facebook’s trying to party like it’s 2009, and ChatGPT’s GPUs are sweating harder than you during an update window. If you were hoping for a chill week in tech…LOL.

Nintendo Leaks its Own Switch 2 News…Accidentally

In true Nintendo fashion, the company dropped major new info about the Switch 2—right after a presentation not about the Switch 2.
Tucked away in the fine print of a page about Nintendo’s new Virtual Game Card system (a digital game-sharing setup for families), eagle-eyed readers spotted a quiet reveal: “Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games.” Translation: We’re about to enter the “enhanced remaster” era of the Switch.
These new editions will only run on the upcoming Switch 2 hardware, hinting at PS5-style upgrades for select games. Whether these will be free updates, paid re-releases, or something in between is TBD.
Nintendo’s promised backward compatibility with current Switch titles, but this sneak peek suggests a split strategy—classic Switch games for everyone, and juiced-up “Switch 2 Editions” for the next-gen faithful.
All eyes now on April 2nd, when the actual Switch 2 Direct will finally drop the full details.

ChatGPT’s Image Tool is So Popular, OpenAI GPUs are “Melting”

If you’ve been cranking out AI images like a caffeinated Pixar intern, you might want to slow your roll. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says the company has “temporarily” rate-limited image generation in ChatGPT because, and we quote, “our GPUs are melting.”
The surge in demand for the DALL·E-powered tool - now more powerful thanks to the GPT-4o model - has been so intense that even throttling free users wasn’t enough. Now, even paid users may feel the crunch, though Altman didn’t say exactly what the limits are (likely: less than your meme habit requires).
The good news? Altman says the restrictions shouldn’t last long as OpenAI works on boosting efficiency. The better news? The upgraded image tool renders realistic visuals and can finally handle text in images without mangling it like a captcha from 2004.
So if your prompt creativity is on fire…maybe give it a breather.

Zuckerberg’s nostalgia era is in full swing: Facebook just launched a new “Friends” tab that ditches the algorithm and brings back the golden age of baby photos and oversharing.
Rolling out now in the US and Canada, the Friends tab gives you a feed just for your actual friends - no suggested posts, no sponsored randomness, no “You might like this video of goats skateboarding in Portugal.” Just Stories, Reels, posts, and birthdays from people you know (and probably muted back in 2017).
This move is part of Facebook’s broader plan to revive its roots. Last year, it teased “Local” and “Explore” tabs to lean harder into discovery, but now it’s balancing that with some “OG Facebook” energy - because apparently, we all miss the simpler times of wall posts and poke wars.
You can access and even pin the new tab from your app’s navigation bar. A little digital detox, Zuckerberg-style.
