Apple’s M4 MacBook Air Incoming: Small Tweaks, Big Potential

Tim Cook has been dropping hints like a seasoned Twitter influencer, and now we know—Apple’s got another launch this week, widely expected to be the M4 MacBook Air. While it’s not a radical redesign, it’s getting some meaningful upgrades that make it a solid step forward.

What’s new?

M4 Power – The new M4 chip boasts a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine that can pull off 38 trillion operations per second. Translation: This thing is prepped for Apple’s AI future.

Dual External Display Support – Finally, you can run two external displays without closing the lid. (Took long enough.)

Better Battery Life – The M4’s efficiency gains mean you’ll likely get more juice per charge, even with the same design.

16GB RAM Standard – Apple’s no longer starting you at a questionable 8GB. Now, 16GB is the new normal, with up to 32GB configurable.

12MP Center Stage Camera – Apple’s AI-powered auto-framing tech is coming to the Air, making your Zoom calls a little less awkward.

Nano-Texture Display (Optional) – A fancy screen upgrade is coming…for an extra $150.

What’s staying the same?

Design. The M4 MacBook Air sticks with the same look as the M2/M3 models—no fresh colors or size changes.

The takeaway? This is a refinement rather than a revolution. But if you’re in the market for a lightweight powerhouse, the M4 MacBook Air might be your next workhorse.

YouTube TV Is Getting a Netflix Makeover

YouTube’s TV app is about to look a lot more like Netflix, according to a new report from The Information. The upcoming redesign—expected in the next few months—will put paid content from streaming services front and center on the homepage.

What’s changing?

Paid Streaming on the Homepage – Right now, YouTube’s Primetime Channels (which include Paramount+, Max, and Crunchyroll) are tucked away in the Movies & TV tab. Soon, they’ll be right on the homepage, making it easier to browse and subscribe.

Seasons for Creators – YouTube is also letting creators organize their videos into seasons, so your favorite series will finally have some structure.

Auto-Playing Previews – Just like Netflix, expect trailers and previews to start playing as you browse.

Why does this matter?

With smart TVs now the most popular way to watch YouTube, the platform is evolving into a full-fledged streaming hub. And while this could make discovering content easier, it also means YouTube is doubling down on paid subscriptions.

T-Mobile Parent Company Launching AI Phone to Ditch Apps for Good

Deutsche Telekom is cooking up something wild: an AI-powered phone that could make traditional app navigation a thing of the past. Announced at MWC 2024, the device will run on Magenta AI, giving users access to Perplexity’s AI-powered search, Google Cloud AI, ElevenLabs, and Picsart—all controlled primarily by voice.

What makes it different?

No Apps, Just AI – Instead of tapping through apps, you’ll simply tell your phone what to do, whether that’s booking a flight or ordering groceries.

AI-Powered Assistant – The Perplexity chatbot can handle tasks like reserving a restaurant or calling a taxi—all without switching between apps.

Looks Like a Midrange Android – The leaked images show a device with thick bezels and a pink sleep/wake button(so at least it’ll be stylish).

When can you get it?

Deutsche Telekom plans to launch the AI phone in the second half of 2025, with some of its AI-powered features rolling out sooner in the MeinMagenta app for existing smartphones.

Big question: Will people actually embrace a fully AI-driven phone, or do we just love our apps too much?

Siri’s AI Glow-Up Might Take Years

If you were hoping for a mind-blowing Siri upgrade this year, you might want to adjust your expectations. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s AI team doesn’t expect a truly modern, conversational Siri until at least iOS 20 in 2027.

What’s the holdup?

Two Siris, One Problem – Apple’s upcoming iOS 18.5 update will bring an AI-powered Siri, but it’ll run alongside the old one instead of fully replacing it—leading to a clunky experience.

Hardware & Talent Issues – Apple’s AI team is reportedly struggling to secure the necessary hardware for training better models, and internal drama is causing top talent to jump ship.

Delayed Again – Apple originally planned a fully revamped Siri for iOS 19.4, but it’s not happening in time for WWDC 2024.

Meanwhile, Amazon has also hit roadblocks with Alexa’s AI reboot, proving that revamping a legacy assistant isn’t as easy as slapping on a chatbot.

Bottom line: Apple will bring AI-powered Siri upgrades soon—but don’t expect it to feel truly next-gen for a few more years.
